Job Description:
The Game and VR Developer will support VolleyR’s transition from externally supported prototype development toward stronger internal technical capability. The role will focus on refining VR interaction systems, strengthening the gameplay loop, supporting performance optimization, and progressively advancing volleyball-specific mechanics as the product develops beyond the initial lean prototype baseline.
The position is intended to build internal continuity around the company’s VR development environment while working with the founding team and, where appropriate, specialized external technical providers. The role will contribute to long-term knowledge retention, faster product iteration, and the gradual internalization of core gameplay-development capability.

Key Responsibilities:
* Support development and refinement of VR gameplay systems within the selected game-engine environment.
* Work with Unity and C# and/or Unreal Engine and C++ depending on the company’s approved technical environment.
* Contribute to motion-based interaction, controller input, player movement, gameplay flow, and real-time feedback systems.
* Refine the core rally and scoring experience as the prototype develops.
* Progressively support more advanced volleyball-specific mechanics following validation of the lean prototype baseline.
* Contribute to serving, setting, spiking, blocking, positioning, and other gameplay interactions as these features are introduced.
* Support integration with OpenXR-compatible environments and target VR hardware.
* Optimize builds for performance, responsiveness, frame stability, and user comfort.
* Conduct testing on supported hardware, including Meta Quest environments where applicable.
* Investigate and resolve gameplay, physics, collision, interaction, latency, and stability issues.
* Participate in source-control, build-management, and technical-documentation practices.
* Work within approved Git-based development workflows and contribute to versioned technical records.
* Support implementation of improvements identified through testing, QA review, and product feedback.
* Coordinate with the 3D Artist/Designer on technical integration of environments, avatars, interface assets, and interactive content.
* Work with external technical advisors or development providers where specialized expertise remains appropriate.
* Maintain technical documentation that supports continuity, internal knowledge retention, and future IP governance.
* Follow approved confidentiality, third-party technology, open-source software, and intellectual-property procedures.
Job Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Game Development, Interactive Media, or a related field; equivalent specialized practical experience may be considered.
* Generally 3+ years of professional experience in game development, VR/AR development, real-time 3D systems, or closely related software development.
* Strong experience with Unity and C# and/or Unreal Engine and C++.
* Familiarity with VR frameworks such as OpenXR.
* Experience with VR hardware ecosystems, with Meta Quest familiarity considered a strong asset.
* Knowledge of real-time physics, collision systems, player interaction, animation integration, and gameplay architecture.
* Experience with performance profiling and optimization for immersive applications.
* Familiarity with Git-based version control and collaborative development workflows.
* Understanding of build pipelines, testing procedures, and technical documentation.
* Experience with multiplayer systems, networking, synchronization, or backend-connected functionality is an asset.
* Strong debugging and problem-solving ability.
* Ability to work effectively with designers, product stakeholders, external technical providers, and multidisciplinary team members.
