About AMPAC

AMPAC is an early-stage civic and public affairs initiative in the process of organizational formation and build-out. We are developing governance, infrastructure, and operating practices from the ground up with high standards, clear approvals, and strong documentation discipline so the work remains credible, lawful, and execution-driven.

Formation and Status Disclaimer

AMPAC is being organized as a District of Columbia nonprofit corporation and intends to operate as an organization described in Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code and to seek recognition of such status from the Internal Revenue Service. Until formation steps are completed and any IRS recognition is received (if sought), AMPAC’s structure, roles, internal policies, and public-facing materials may be updated, refined, or revised. The AMPAC website and related materials may include wording or features referencing “501(c)(4)” or civic engagement activities; such materials are presented for informational purposes during the build-out phase and are subject to change.

The Opportunity

AMPAC is seeking Founding Board Members (Volunteer) to help establish disciplined governance, strategic direction, and institutional credibility during the build-out phase. This role is suited for individuals who bring strong judgment, professional maturity, and a builder mindset in a public-facing environment.

Volunteer role; compensation note: This is a volunteer board role. Any compensation, stipend, honorarium, or reimbursement is discretionary, subject to applicable law and internal governance approvals, and may be considered based on organizational needs and the selected candidate’s scope of contribution.

Key Responsibilities

• Governance and fiduciary oversight: Participate in board decision-making, uphold governance discipline, and support accountability for organizational direction and risk posture.
• Strategic guidance and build-out support: Contribute expertise to help shape priorities across programs, communications, partnerships, operations, and institutional development.
• Compliance and approvals: Support clear approval pathways for external-facing activity, documentation standards, and risk-managed decision-making.
• Fundraising and resourcing support: Assist in building fundraising capacity and resource planning; support donor-facing discipline and controls as AMPAC scales.
• Committee participation: Serve on one or more committees or working groups (as needed) and contribute to defined deliverables.
• Institutional credibility: Help establish AMPAC as a trusted civic institution through consistent professionalism, principled engagement, and governance maturity.
• Risk awareness: Identify material reputational, legal, security, and operational risks; escalate appropriately and support mitigation planning.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for founding board members across disciplines who can help build a high-trust civic institution.

Ideal qualifications include (one or more):
• Experience in nonprofit governance, civic engagement, policy, public affairs, advocacy, legal/compliance, finance/audit, operations, communications, technology/security, or fundraising.
• Strong judgment, maturity, and ability to operate in a public-facing environment with professionalism.
• Builder mindset: willingness to contribute time and expertise to an early-stage organization developing systems and governance from the ground up.
• Structured thinking, documentation rigor, and follow-through.
• Collaborative approach and respectful engagement.

Time Commitment

• Variable, depending on stage and needs. Expect regular board governance cadence plus committee participation as required.
• Remote-first, with periodic Washington, DC presence as needed for key meetings or stakeholder engagement.

What You Will Help Build

A credible, disciplined grassroots civic institution with clear governance, lawful engagement practices, and scalable operational standards.

How to Apply

Please submit:
• A short statement of interest (why AMPAC, and what you would contribute at the board level)
• Resume or LinkedIn profile
• Any relevant governance, civic, leadership, or institutional build examples (optional)

Equal Opportunity Note

AMPAC evaluates candidates based on merit, alignment with mission, integrity, and capability to execute within a high-trust governance environment.
