Job Description:
HWNY is accepting applications for Fiscal Assistant. The Fiscal Assistant will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and collaborate closely with other departments. The Fiscal Assistant is responsible for playing a critical role in the financial management of the organization. The Fiscal Assistant will be responsible for recording financial transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, and assisting with budgeting and financial analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
1) Financial Record Keeping
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software and spreadsheets.
• Record all financial transactions, including accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
• Verify and reconcile financial data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
2) Accounts Payable and Receivable
• Manage accounts payable by processing invoices, verifying accuracy, and ensuring timely payments.
• Oversee accounts receivable, monitor customer payments, and follow up on outstanding balances.
3) Bank Reconciliation
• Reconcile bank statements regularly to ensure that transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
4) Budgeting and Forecasting
• Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts, providing financial data and insights to support decision-making.
5) Financial Analysis
• Analyze financial data and trends to identify areas for cost savings, revenue growth, and process improvements.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic planning.
6) Documentation and Record Management
• Maintain organized financial records and documentation for audits and reference purposes.
• Safeguard sensitive financial information and ensure data security.

Job Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or, five years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience as a Fiscal Assistant, Accountant, or in a similar role.
• Proficiency in accounting software QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of federal and state grants.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• High level of integrity and confidentiality.
• Proven experience as a Fiscal Assistant, Accountant, or in a similar role.
