Job Description:
Ward's Hydraulic Services Ltd located at 945 Memorial Drive, Fort McMurray, AB, T9K 0K4, has full-time and permanent vacancies for 10 Machine Fitters to install mobile fire protection systems on large open pit mine vehicles such as haul trucks or mining shovels

Duties
• Install, configure, and commission mobile fire protection systems on open-pit mining equipment on various mines in the Fort McMurray region.
• Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting on low-voltage electrical circuits using multimeters
• Conduct functional testing, inspections, and commissioning of installed fire suppression systems to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications, site safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Measure, cut, and assemble hoses and fittings to the required specifications prior to installation.
• Assemble /install hoses/pipes that distribute fire suppression retardant
• Complete wiring runs, cable routing, and electrical terminations in accordance with electrical schematics and conductor length requirements.
• Drill and tap holes, mount, and secure system components, modules, and assemblies using appropriate tools and fastening methods.
• Read blueprints and diagrams for mobile fire suppression systems and install them accordingly
• Inspect installed Fire Suppression System parts, and subassemblies at planned intervals as per the check sheets to ensure proper functioning
• Inform the supervisor of installation challenges or other hurdles
• Document the outcomes of installation and maintenance activities on required check sheets, work reports and LEMs (Labour, Equipment and Material Charges)
• Development of JHA’s (Job Hazard Assessments) and Safe Work Practices relevant to the job.
• Work 12-hour shifts, 7-day on and 7-day off schedule or 14-day on and 14-day off schedule

Education
• Qualified as either a Millwright, Pipe fitter, Fitter, Mechanic, Machinist, Auto Electrician, Electrician, or Instrumentation technician

• or eligibility to challenge any of these trades

• or Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience installing, servicing, troubleshooting, or maintaining mobile fire suppression systems on heavy equipment, mining equipment, construction equipment, or industrial machinery.

Experience/Abilities
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Ability to install equipment independently
• Experience working in mining, heavy industrial, oil sands, construction, or similar remote-site environments is strongly preferred

Personal suitability
• Physically and mentally capable of performing all duties in a safe and professional manner
• These positions require drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment
• Maintain an acceptable driver’s abstract
• Driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
• Physically able to climb, carry, and lift 50 lb.
• 24-volt Electrical troubleshooting is an asset
• HVAC installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, or service experience will be considered a strong asset
• Demonstrates honesty and integrity in all business interactions and strives to meet customer needs in a creative and safe manner
• Highly motivated, positive attitude, pleasant demeanor with an ability to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks while working within a team environment and cross-functional departments as well as independently
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with excellent
• Knowledge and ability to assemble and commission mechanical systems would be a big asset

• Eligible for the following additional remuneration on successful completion of the probation period (3 months).
o Commuting allowance: $400 per month to $800 per month, paid bi-weekly up to management’s discretion
o Discretionary retention or pension of $0.5 per hour to $3.50 per hour at management discretion
o Company Accommodation or housing allowance ranging from $400 per month to $1000 per month at management discretion
