Main Duties and Responsibilities

•Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the overall operation of the company's finance and accounting department.
•Develop and implement financial and accounting policies, internal control systems, and departmental procedures, and set performance standards for the finance team.
•Prepare, manage and oversee annual operating and capital budgets, cash-flow forecasts and long-range financial plans; monitor actual results against budget and report on variances.
•Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements, management reports and month-end / year-end close in accordance with applicable accounting standards (ASPE / IFRS).
•Manage the company's banking, credit and financing relationships, and act as the primary contact with external auditors, tax advisors, insurers and regulatory authorities.
•Direct the financial aspects of the company's relationships with major retail partners (e.g. Best Buy, Costco, London Drugs, Walmart), including credit terms, accounts receivable/payable, and supply-chain financing.
•Evaluate financial and business risks, establish risk-management and cash-management strategies, and recommend improvements to profitability and operational efficiency.
•Ensure compliance with taxation (corporate tax, GST/PST), payroll and statutory financial reporting requirements.
•Advise senior management on financial planning, capital investment, pricing and business strategy.
•Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate finance and accounting staff.

Requirement:

•A bachelor's or master's degree in Business Administration (or a closely related field) is required.
•With a bachelor's degree: a minimum of five (5) years of experience in financial and accounting management, financial analysis and budgeting is required.
•With a master's degree: a minimum of three (3) years of experience in financial management, financial analysis and budgeting is required.
•Solid knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, financial analysis and internal controls.
•Proficiency with ERP and accounting software and advanced spreadsheet skills.
•Strong leadership, analytical, organizational and communication skills.
•Experience in the wholesale / distribution or consumer-electronics sector is an asset.
