Currently, The Byng Group Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Business Financial Analyst to join its finance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing financial and operational data, preparing budgets, forecasts, financial models, and performance reports, and evaluating financial risks to support strategic planning and business decision-making initiatives. The role involves conducting variance, profitability, trend, and cash flow analyses; monitoring financial performance indicators; identifying cost optimization opportunities; and preparing analytical reports and dashboards to support management reporting. The candidate will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess the financial impact of business initiatives, evaluate operational efficiencies, and provide recommendations to improve overall business performance. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, along with the ability to interpret complex financial information in a fast-paced business environment.

Job Duties and Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

• Participate in the preparation and analysis of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-term financial plans to support organizational objectives and strategic decision-making.
• Analyze financial performance, operational trends, and business data using advanced financial modeling techniques to evaluate risks, forecast outcomes, and support business planning initiatives.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance complex financial models and reporting tools using advanced Excel, Power BI, Power Query, and other analytical platforms to support forecasting, scenario analysis, budgeting, and performance measurement.
• Design and maintain financial dashboards, reports, and data visualization tools to provide management with meaningful insights into financial and operational performance.
• Collect, extract, transform, and integrate financial and operational data from multiple internal and external sources to ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of financial reporting and analysis.
• Conduct financial analyses including variance analysis, trend analysis, profitability analysis, cost analysis, and cash flow assessments to identify business risks, operational efficiencies, and cost optimization opportunities.
• Develop, monitor, and evaluate KPIs and financial metrics to assess organizational performance and support data-driven recommendations to senior management.
• Collaborate with management and cross-functional teams to evaluate business initiatives, investment opportunities, operational strategies, and market trends, and assess their financial impact on the organization.
• Prepare regular financial risk assessments and risk profile reports by analyzing financial exposure, operational risks, and market conditions, and provide recommendations to mitigate potential risks.
• Prepare financial summaries, analytical reports, and presentations for senior leadership to support strategic planning, budgeting, and business development activities.
Skill requirements for the position (including education and work experience):
• Completion of a diploma or post-secondary program in commerce, business accounting, finance, administration, economics, or a related field is required, along with on-the-job training.
• Completion of a Bachelor's degree in commerce, business administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field, combined with on-the-job training and industry courses or programs, is considered an asset.
• Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), or Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) designation is considered an asset.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as a financial analyst, accounting analyst, bookkeeper, or in a relevant financial role is required.
• Ability to multi-task, remain cool and keep up in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and administrative communication skills.
