Continental Electrical Motor Services (Northern) Ltd. (see https://continental-electric.com) located at 8909 15 St. Edmonton, Alberta, T6P 0B8 has a need for 1 permanent and full-time qualified Field Services Specialist (Electric Motor System Technician) to join the team.

Duties
• The primary function is to perform the following on site specialized testing services:
o Vibration Analysis of electrical motors
o Laser Alignment of electrical motors
o Balancing of electrical motors
o Motion Amplification of electrical motor
o PD Testing of electrical motor
o PDMA Testing of electrical motor
o Motor Current Signature Analysis (MSCA) of electrical motor
o Customer Support
o Assist Service Centre, as needed
• Inspecting motors and generators to identify faults or defects
• Disassembling electrical equipment to facilitate repair and maintenance
• Replacing or repairing faulty parts and components
• Testing repaired motors, generators, and other electrical equipment to ensure they operate correctly
• Performing preventative maintenance on electric motors and other equipment to reduce the likelihood of failures
• Reading and interpreting schematics and technical drawings
• Using specialized electrical testing equipment to diagnose faults
• Reassembling and testing equipment after repairs are complete
• Communicating with clients to provide advice and recommendations
• Maintaining a safe and clean work environment
• Documenting work performed for future reference and record-keeping
• Ordering parts and supplies necessary for repair and maintenance work
• Work closely and communicate with customers, field service and service centre teams, and administration departments
• Handle customer questions and enquiries, as needed
• Update work orders with appropriate information to provide information more quickly and easily to customers
• Promote a professional company image, strong voice to employees and customers
• Overtime when needed
• Participate in the development of strategies to improve the performance of the Field Services department
• Perform other duties as required
Education
• Journeyman certificate in the Electric Motor System Technician trade from any jurisdiction OR Enough experience to challenge a provincial certificate of qualification (about 9,000-10,000 hours)
Skills and Experience
• Must be able to perform the duties listed.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and own transportation.
• Good mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently in a busy environment.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment.
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Able to work well under pressure.
• Accountability and strong attention to detail.
• Self-starter, with developed analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Computer literate.
Wages & Benefits
• Salary: $51.59 per hour, paid biweekly
• Hours of work: 40 hours per week
• Overtime: May be required and is paid in accordance with the Alberta Employment Standards Code
• 3 weeks vacation annually, accrued as it is earned
• Extended health care and dental benefits
• RRSP matching program
• Safety equipment is required and will be supplied or subsidized by Continental Electrical
