Fibre Optic Cable Splicer Job

Job duties and responsibilities:
-Inspect and test cable signals and associated equipment
-Inspect trunking systems
-Install and maintain aerial and underground telephone equipment
-Read blueprints to determine work requirements
-Repair cable signals
-Test trunking systems
-Test equipment to locate transmission faults
-Install trunking systems, circuits and equipment
-Instruct apprentices
-Complete and maintain test and service reports
-Determine nature, cause and location of trouble
-Connect, disconnect and relocate cable outlets
-Determine work assignments
-Install cable modems and software to enable -Internet access
-Maintain and repair aerial and underground transmission systems
-Repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers and amplifiers
-Splice, join and connect wires
-Repair or replace defective telephone equipment

Working hours: 35 hours per week

Languages: English

Education: Secondary school graduation certificate

Experience: 1 year in the field
