Duties:
• Set up and operate heavy metalworking machines including Fiber Optic Laser
• Performs operation, setup and product changeover independently with limited supervision
• Read specifications or follow verbal instructions and interpret and follow these instructions, sketches, schedules, drawings and documents.
• With direct oversight, identify machine alignment problems.
• Use precision instruments to check tolerances and quality of parts.
• Perform all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures
• Inspect all raw materials arriving in the department, ensuring gauge and quality
• Operate machine after setup to fabricate all parts, while maintaining production and quality goals
• Program machine as required for operation
• Adjust and troubleshoot the machine as needed to ensure the quality of the parts
• Ensure work area is kept clean and free from hazards
• Other duties as assigned, for example, when laser machine is slow with jobs must be able to perform other shop duties related to metal fabrication i.e. drilling, polishing, grinding, etc.

Requirements:
• Completion of secondary school is required
• 1+ years of experience in a role operating a Fiber Optic Laser
• Experience working with steel, stainless steel, brass, bronze, and aluminum
• Must have a good understanding of metal grades
• Must have strong communication skills (written and verbal)
• Ability to work in a fast paced, teamwork environment with minimal supervision
• Excellent time-management, and high attention to details
• Ability to be flexible, open and responsive to ongoing changes
• Must be able to operate an Overhead Crane for loading and unloading laser table with material.
• Employees may be required to use respiratory protective equipment and shall co-operate in attaining an effective fit of the equipment and be clean shaven to ensure an effective facial seal to provide for the health and safety of all employees and compliance with the Ministry of Labour guidelines.
