About AMPAC
AMPAC is an early-stage civic and public affairs initiative in the process of organizational formation and build-out. We are developing governance, infrastructure, and operating practices from the ground up with high standards, clear approvals, and strong documentation so the work remains credible, lawful, and execution-driven.
This role is contingent on completion of organizational formation steps, internal governance approvals, and funding availability; AMPAC may pause or revise the role during the build-out period.
Formation and Status Disclaimer
AMPAC is being organized as a District of Columbia nonprofit corporation and intends to operate as an organization described in Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code and to seek recognition of such status from the Internal Revenue Service. Until formation steps are completed and any IRS recognition is received (if sought), AMPAC’s structure, roles, internal policies, and public-facing materials may be updated, refined, or revised. The AMPAC website and related materials may include wording or features referencing “501(c)(4)” or civic engagement activities; such materials are presented for informational purposes during the build-out phase and are subject to change.
The Opportunity
AMPAC is seeking a Federal Public Affairs Lead to help build and execute a disciplined federal engagement program. This is a high-impact role focused on federal-level relationship development, issue advocacy, and lawful public affairs execution. The ideal candidate brings strong Washington, DC experience, excellent judgment, and a compliance-first mindset.
Key Responsibilities
• Federal advocacy execution: Support AMPAC’s federal engagement strategy by building and maintaining relationships with congressional offices, committees, and relevant executive-branch stakeholders, consistent with approved priorities.
• Legislative monitoring and intelligence: Track federal legislative and regulatory developments relevant to AMPAC’s mission; translate activity into concise internal updates and recommended actions.
• Strategy and planning: Build structured federal engagement plans, including meeting targets, stakeholder mapping, and quarterly objectives aligned with board-approved priorities.
• Coalition and partnership work: Coordinate with aligned organizations and coalition partners to support responsible, solutions-oriented engagement.
• Briefing materials: Draft and/or coordinate policy briefs, talking points, meeting memos, and follow-up documentation with strong sourcing and auditability.
• Compliance and controls: Operate within clear approvals, documentation standards, and risk-management requirements. Support adherence to applicable lobbying, ethics, reporting, and election-law boundaries. This role does not involve campaign activity; all work must remain within lawful issue advocacy and applicable election-law boundaries, with documented approvals.
• Board and leadership support: Prepare leadership for Hill meetings through briefing packets, structured agendas, and follow-up trackers.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for a disciplined operator with credibility in federal public affairs.
Ideal qualifications include:
• Demonstrated federal public affairs and/or lobbying experience and an established network in Washington, DC.
• Familiarity with congressional workflow, committee structures, executive-branch engagement, and stakeholder mapping.
• Strong writing and briefing skills, with an ability to produce clear, nonpartisan, public-safe materials.
• Experience operating under approvals and documentation discipline in a public-facing environment.
• Good judgment, professionalism, and calm execution under time pressure.
• Comfort building from zero in an early-stage organization and driving execution with limited infrastructure while maintaining documentation and approvals.
• Must be eligible and willing to comply with applicable federal and state lobbying registration, reporting, gift/ethics restrictions, and internal compliance requirements, as applicable to the role.
Work Model and Location
• Hybrid role with Washington, DC presence required for meetings and relationship development.
• Remote work permitted for research, planning, drafting, and internal coordination, consistent with operational needs.
Compensation
• $46,000–$100,000 annually, commensurate with experience and scope of responsibility.
What You Will Help Build
A credible, disciplined grassroots civic institution capable of executing federal engagement with professionalism, lawful participation, and long-term trust.
How to Apply
Please submit:
• A short statement of interest (why AMPAC, why now)
• Resume or LinkedIn profile
• A brief summary of relevant federal engagement experience (issues, committees, agencies, or coalitions)
• Optional: a writing sample (policy memo, briefing note, or stakeholder plan)
Equal Opportunity Note
AMPAC evaluates candidates based on merit, alignment with mission, integrity, and capability to execute within a high-trust operating environment.
