Job Description:
• Plan, organize, direct, control, and evaluate the overall operations of the berry farm.
• Develop and implement crop production plans, including planting, irrigation, fertilization, pest management, harvesting, and post-harvest handling.
• Establish farm production goals and monitor operations to ensure productivity, quality, and profitability.
• Hire, supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate farm supervisors, equipment operators, and general farm workers.
• Develop and implement farm operating policies and procedures to improve efficiency and maintain quality standards.
• Prepare and manage farm budgets, production schedules, and operational plans.
• Maintain records related to production, inventory, labour, equipment maintenance, crop yields, and financial performance.
• Purchase farm supplies, equipment, fertilizers, chemicals, and other materials required for farm operations.
• Coordinate the maintenance, repair, and replacement of farm machinery, vehicles, irrigation systems, and other equipment.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, environmental standards, food safety requirements, and company policies.
• Monitor crop conditions and implement measures to maximize crop yield and maintain product quality.
• Coordinate marketing and delivery schedules with buyers, processors, or distributors as required.
• Analyze production reports and recommend improvements to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs.
Requirements:
Completion of Secondary School.
Post-secondary education in the field is strongly preferred.
Minimum one year experience as a farm supervisor is required.
Work conditions and physical capabilities:
Ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
Good communication and leadership skills.
Basic knowledge of farm machinery and equipment.
Ability to keep farm records and manage daily operations.
