Farm Manager Job

Job Duties:

• Plan, organize, direct and oversee the daily operations of the mushroom farm to ensure production targets and quality standards are met.
• Develop and coordinate mushroom production schedules, including spawning, growing, harvesting and post-harvest activities.
• Monitor growing conditions such as temperature, humidity, ventilation and sanitation, and make adjustments as needed to maintain healthy and consistent mushroom production.
• Hire, train and supervise farm workers, assign daily duties, prepare work schedules and monitor employee performance.
• Monitor crop development and identify production issues, diseases, pests or contamination concerns, and implement appropriate corrective measures.
• Manage the purchase and inventory of farm supplies and materials, including compost, spawn, growing supplies, packaging materials, equipment and other production inputs.
• Establish and monitor quality control, sanitation and food safety procedures throughout the production and harvesting process.
• Oversee the proper use, maintenance and repair of farm machinery, growing equipment and facilities.
• Coordinate harvesting and production activities based on crop readiness, customer demand and delivery schedules.
• Monitor farm operating costs and use labour, materials and equipment efficiently to support cost-effective farm operations.

Employment Requirements:

• College Diploma or above
• Minimum 2 years of experience as farm supervisor or manager in commercial farming, crop production or a related agricultural operation
