Job Description:
The Farm and Infrastructure Supervisor plays a pivotal role in the operational success of Hansen Malvin Enterprises Ltd. Reporting directly to the Employer, this position bridges the gap between field labor and general farm management. As the farm currently operates without a designated on-site Manager, the Supervisor is responsible for high-level technical oversight, infrastructure maintenance management, and the coordination of specialized agricultural teams to ensure continuity of operations.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Specialized Agricultural Supervision
• Coordinate, assign, and supervise the daily activities of specialized workers, ensuring efficient collaboration across crop and harvesting teams.
• Oversee breeding programs, crop operations, and livestock management to maintain peak health, welfare, and productivity.
• Develop operational schedules and establish refined procedures to streamline farm activities and maximize output.
• Enforce rigorous adherence to farm safety, food safety, security, and bio-security protocols (WorkSafeBC & CFIA).
• Maintain comprehensive records of production quality and resource allocation to support informed decision-making by ownership.
2. Infrastructure & Technical Coordination
• Infrastructure Maintenance: Oversee the functionality and regular inspection of critical farm infrastructure, including irrigation systems, drainage, greenhouses, and storage
facilities.
• Equipment Management: Manage the preventive maintenance and repair schedules for heavy farm machinery and specialized technical equipment.
• Vendor Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact for external infrastructure contractors, ensuring repairs and upgrades are completed to farm specifications.
• Supply Management: Monitor and procure technical supplies and spare parts necessary for ongoing infrastructure integrity.
Employment Requirements
• Education: Completion of secondary school is required. Supplemental technical certification in agriculture or machinery maintenance is an asset.
• Experience: Must have at least one (1) year of Local direct experience in agricultural supervision or farm infrastructure coordination.
• Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage complex irrigation systems and
troubleshoot agricultural machinery. Strong leadership skills and the ability to work independently in a management-support role.
• Language: Functional English proficiency for safety reporting and team coordination.
