Family Caregiver Job

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide general personal care and companionship.
• Assist with bedside care, bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene needs.
• Assist in daily regular exercise, e.g. walking.
• Give medication reminders and assist with medications.
• Perform health-related duties when necessary, such as measuring blood pressure, changing non-sterile dressings, giving medications and collecting specimens.
• Closely observe clients’ health data such as heartbeats and blood pressure, monitor any physical and behavioural changes, and report to the employer or directly make emergency calls when necessary.
• Assist with meal preparation, and shop for food and household supplies.
• Coordinate transportation for medical appointments and social or recreational activities.
• Perform light housekeeping duties such as laundry, washing dishes and making beds when requested.

• Education: Completion of secondary education.
• Completion of a training program in care of the elderly, care of persons with disabilities, convalescent care is preferred.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience in elderly care or a related field
• First aid certification is preferred.
• Ability of working for physical-demanding and repeated tasks.
• Detail oriented and reliable.
• Reliable and independent.

Private household looking for a permanent and full-time family caregiver to provide in-home care for a senior. Live-in accommodation is available at no charge but NOT mandatory.
