F/T Landscaping Supervisor

Yamato Landscaping Inc. is seeking one fulltime Landscaping Supervisor to join our team. This position is permanent.

Job Description/Duties:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers who maintain lawns, gardens, parks, interior plantscapes and other landscaped areas
- Plan and estimate the materials and labour requirements for individual contracts
- Organize the planting and maintenance of trees, gardens, lawns, shrubs and hedges and the construction and installation of fences, decks and patios
- Establish work schedules and procedures for the projects assigned
- Resolve work-related problems and prepare and submit progress and other reports
- Requisition or order supplies and materials
- Maintain work records and logs
- Consult, plan, construct and maintain Japanese-style gardens and similar-style garden structures as a lead Landscape Gardener
- Perform planting, grooming and maintenance of private and public gardens and lawns as a lead Landscape Gardener/Supervisor
- Examine trees and shrubs to diagnose problems and disease; and trim & prune hedges, trees and shrubs, including hand pruning as a lead Landscape Gardener
- Train workers in job duties and company policies
- Ensure all work is carried out in a safe and conscientious manner at site
- Ensure tools and machinery are properly maintained
- May provide snow removal services during winter months
- May perform the same duties as workers supervised
- May assist in hiring new workers

Skills and Qualification Requirements:
- Completion of secondary school
- Minimum 3 years of working experience as a Landscape Gardener/Technician
- Minimum 2 years of working experience in creating/constructing Japanese-style gardens as landscape gardener
- Working experience as a gardener, specialising as tree service/maintenance technician or tree pruning technician, including work experience in creating bonsai
- Ability to perform all the above duties
- Ability to perform with quality in tight schedule and/or fast paced work environment
- Knowledge of different plants and their required growing conditions
- Knowledge of Asian plants/fruit trees and their required growing conditions
- Experience and skills to perform hand pruning using hand pruning saw and scissors effectively and properly without supervision
- Knowledge of constructing Japanese-style garden/rock garden
- Communication skills in English
- Able to work outdoors in most of various weather conditions which may include heat and humidity, rain, dust, noise and cold
- Knowledge and skills in using and maintenance of tools and machinery
- Physically fit as the work often requires to bend, stoop, lift, pull, push, squat and stand for long periods of time
- Customer service skills
- Able to work day, evening, shift, weekend, overtime
- Able to work in a team with respectable manner both to customers and to co-workers

Salary and working hours:
- $28.85/hour, 35hrs/week
