About us
Piri Piri Grill House is a Portuguese restaurant, with an extensive menu, consisting of Piri Piri chicken, Portuguese stews and desserts, a variety of fresh fish, seafood, and a variety of fresh meats. Also on the menu is a selection of entrees, including sardine bruschetta, octopus, shrimps, etc; and a selection of pastas, risottos and pizza.

Piri Piri is licensed for over 200 people, spread out over a private room, dining room, dining lounge, and large outdoor patio.
Piri Piri has been operating at this location (1444 Dupont St. U.1&2 -Toronto - Ontario), since 2002. Recently renovated, Piri Piri Grill is ready to serve the diverse Torontonian community for another 20 years.

About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced and visionary Executive Chef to lead our culinary team. Reporting directly to senior management, the Executive Chef is responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, developing innovative menus, maintaining the highest standards of food quality and safety, managing kitchen staff, and ensuring efficient day-to-day operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate culinary leader to drive excellence, inspire a high-performing team, and contribute to the continued success and growth of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and oversee all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring efficient day-to-day performance and exceptional food quality.
• Plan, develop, and implement menus, including seasonal offerings and specialty dishes, while maintaining consistency and high culinary standards.
• Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative, productive, and professional work environment.
• Establish work schedules, coordinate kitchen activities, and ensure adequate staffing to meet operational demands.
• Monitor food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure compliance with quality, portion, and presentation standards.
• Manage food and labour costs by overseeing inventory, ordering supplies, minimizing waste, and maintaining budget targets.
• Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and occupational health and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with management to develop culinary strategies, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the overall guest dining experience.
• Maintain quality control procedures and ensure all kitchen operations align with the restaurant's vision, standards, and objectives.
• Perform other related duties as required to support the successful operation of the kitchen.

Qualifications:
• Over five years of experience as a Chef, Executive Chef, Sous Chef, or in a related culinary leadership role.
• Secondary school diploma is preferred.
• Previous experience leading kitchen operations and supervising staff in a fast-paced restaurant or hotel environment.
• Experience with Portuguese cuisine is an asset.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and time management skills.
• Proven experience with menu planning, food preparation, inventory management, purchasing, and cost control.
• Thorough knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and HACCP standards.
• Excellent communication and team management skills, with the ability to train and mentor kitchen staff.
• A strong commitment to maintaining high culinary standards, consistency, and operational excellence.
• Experience with pastry and bakery production is considered a strong asset.
• Familiarity with Canadian culinary standards and food safety regulations is an asset.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
