Job Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Excavator Operator to join our team in Tavistock, ON. This is a full-time, non-union position offering steady daytime hours, competitive pay, and the opportunity to work on a variety of construction and site development projects.

The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, dependable, and experienced in operating excavators efficiently while maintaining a safe work environment.

Responsibilities
Operate excavators safely and efficiently on construction sites.
Perform excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, and material handling.
Read and interpret site plans, grade stakes, and project specifications.
Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.
Complete routine equipment maintenance and report mechanical issues promptly.
Work safely around underground utilities and existing infrastructure.
Load trucks and move materials as directed.
Maintain proper excavation depths and grades.
Work closely with supervisors, labourers, and other equipment operators.
Follow all company safety policies and provincial health and safety regulations.
Keep equipment clean and maintain accurate daily inspection records.

Qualifications
Minimum 2 years of experience operating excavators in construction, civil, or site servicing projects.
Strong knowledge of excavation techniques, grading, trenching, and site preparation.
Experience working around underground utilities is considered an asset.
Ability to read site drawings, grade stakes, and construction plans.
Knowledge of safe operating procedures and heavy equipment best practices.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify equipment concerns.
Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence and reliable transportation.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Punctual, reliable, and safety-focused.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with GPS machine control systems is an asset.
Experience operating additional heavy equipment such as loaders, dozers, or skid steers is considered an asset.
Working at Heights certification is an asset.
WHMIS certification is an asset.
First Aid/CPR certification is an asset.
