Stylishly crafted business meetings, precisely orchestrated guest room blocks, enviably designed weddings, all in a day's work for an Event Specialist at the award winning Radisson Blu Mall of America. From beginning to end, the Event Specialist works with clients to create one of a kind experiences that last far beyond the day of the event. On a continual basis, the Event Specialist exercises their relational acumen, creative eye and attention to detail to champion catering and guest room revenue goals while maximizing guest satisfaction.
The primary responsibilities of the Event Specialist are as follows:
1. Participates in the development and implementation of business strategies for the hotel which are aligned with Radisson Blu's overall mission, vision values and strategies
• Develops and implements strategies for achieving individual catering sales goals
• Monitors status regularly and adjusts strategies as appropriate
2. Achieves catering sales goals by developing and implementing sales strategies
• Books and finalizes weddings.
• Identifies potential key accounts (banquet and group) and develops strategies to prioritize and win those accounts and books and finalizes weddings.
• Responds to sales calls from prospective catering and small group customers
• Clarifies customer requirements and suggests alternative menus, themes, etc.
• Prepares proposals for clients which outline details of proposed functions; coordinates preparation of food and beverage estimates with other departments as needed
• Negotiates the sale of catering functions
• Conducts on-site client inspections to illustrate available services, knows meeting and sleeping room set-ups and capabilities
• Monitors customer satisfaction with catering business; follows up with key contacts on a regular basis to assess satisfaction
• Ensures all materials used are in accordance with brand standards
3. Maintains proper flow of information to sales team, reviews work file of assigned accounts
• Communicates clients' requests to all departments in an effective and timely manner
• Works with sales team for additional business opportunities as appropriate
• Assists in reviewing the function book and conducts evaluation of releasing or finalizing functions
4. Creates 100% guest satisfaction by providing the Radisson Blu experience through performance that demonstrates the standards of, genuine hospitality and exceeding guest expectations
• Provides Yes I Can! genuine hospitality and teamwork on an ongoing basis
• Performs other duties required to provide the service brand behavior and genuine hospitality
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum one to three years hotel catering or convention experience
• Must have flexible work schedule to include occasional Saturdays.
• Local market knowledge preferred, in upper upscale hotel industry
• High school diploma required, bachelor's degree preferred
• Experience working with brand standards
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other hotel employees and managers to ensure teamwork
• General knowledge of contract laws
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office suite
• Strong relational skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong negotiation skills
• Strong mathematical skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Sitting for extended period of time
• Occasional long periods of standing
• No heavy lifting expected, exertion of up to 25 pounds of force occasionally may be required
• Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment
