Environmental Health & Safety Specialist Job

Plan, direct, implement, and provide support and assistance to the Environment, Health, and Safety functions. Develop, implement, and manage EH&S policies, programs, and practices, as assigned EH&S programs. Plan and implement procedures, programs, and submit regulatory reports in compliance with the local, state, and/or federal agencies. Communicate closely with and take instructions from the EH&S Supervisor/Manager or higher to achieve department goals and organizational goals according to key metrics. Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. The position exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and builds productive internal/external working relationships. Work with EH&S Manager for promotion of safety in the workplace, community, or industry safety groups and programs. Coordinate and assist with the Safety Committee and its subcommittees. Conduct hazard and risk assessments, facility inspections, and ergonomic evaluations; identify and track corrective/preventive actions to address risk factors. Investigate incidents, near-misses, and environment-related events; support emergency response. Train managers and employees. Focus on Compliance, risk-based management, monitoring, training, and environmental projects.

Minimum Requirements:
Education: Master’s degree in occupational safety and health, environmental and occupational health science, environmental engineering or a related field
Experience: One year of experience of experience in the job offered, in a position involving environmental health and safety or a related field
Skills: Incident Investigation; Risk Assessment; Industrial Hygiene; Root Cause Analysis; OSHA Compliance Safety Standards; ISO 14001; Ergonomic Assessment; Hazardous Waste Management; emergency response.
