Tasks:
- Reading and interpreting drawings, circuit diagrams, and electrical code specifications to determine wiring layouts for both new and existing installations.
- Pulling wiring through conduits and walls, installing brackets and hangers to secure electrical equipment safely and effectively.
- Installing, replacing, and repairing lighting fixtures and electrical control systems, including switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels.
- Splicing, joining, and connecting wires to create functional circuits, ensuring compatibility and safety of all systems installed.
- Testing circuit continuity using specialized equipment to ensure safe and effective system operation after installation, replacement, or repair.
- Troubleshooting and isolating faults within electrical systems, identifying and replacing faulty components to maintain system integrity.
- Connecting electrical power to various systems, such as audio/visual communication devices, heating and cooling systems, and signaling devices as required by project specifications.
- Conducting preventive maintenance and keeping thorough maintenance records to ensure long-term functionality and compliance with industry standards.
- Installing grounding leads and systems to prevent electrical shocks and ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Monitoring and ensuring adherence to project timelines for electrical installations to align with overall construction schedules.
- Collaborating with construction supervisors to suggest design modifications or improvements based on site conditions or safety requirements.
- Providing on-site guidance and training for junior electricians and apprentices, ensuring proper techniques and adherence to safety protocols.
