Tasks:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in residential and commercial buildings.
- Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
- Install electrical panels, transformers, circuit breakers, and other electrical components.
- Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
- Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.
- Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
- Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with the Electrical Code and local building regulations.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure all safety measures are in place before starting any electrical work.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams to understand the layout and design of the electrical system.
- Document all installations, inspections, maintenance, and repair work performed.
- Prepare reports on the condition of electrical systems and any necessary repairs or upgrades.
- Communicate effectively with clients to understand their electrical needs and provide solutions.
- Offer advice and recommendations on electrical system improvements and energy efficiency.
- Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by delivering quality workmanship and timely service.
- Work collaboratively with other electricians, apprentices, and team members to complete projects efficiently.
- Provide guidance and support to apprentices and junior electricians.
- Coordinate with project managers, contractors, and other trades to ensure smooth project execution.
- Respond promptly to emergency calls for electrical issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical emergencies to restore power and ensure safety.
- Upgrade existing electrical systems to meet current codes and improve performance.
- Install energy-efficient systems and components to help clients reduce energy consumption and costs.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay updated on the latest electrical technologies, codes, and best practices.
- Share knowledge and expertise with team members to promote continuous improvement.
