Job duties and responsibilities:

* Install, replace and repair electrical controls and panel boxes.
* Splice, join and connect electrical wires.
* Test and measure voltage, loads, ground faults and circuit integrity.
* Troubleshoot and isolate electrical faults.
* Select appropriate materials and installation methods for hazardous locations.
* Install power-generation, standby power-generation and power-conditioning systems.
* Renovate electrical systems in residential and commercial structures.
* Conduct preventive maintenance programs.
* Prepare and maintain maintenance reports and documentation.
* Estimate labour, material and project costs.
* Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, maps and technical specifications.
* Ensure that electrical work complies with applicable codes and safety requirements.

Employment requirements

* Completion of secondary school is required.
* One year to less than two years of relevant experience is required.
* Electrician trade certification is required.
* Applicants must be legally authorized or eligible to obtain authorization to practice the electrician trade in Alberta.
* A valid driver’s licence is required.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong attention to detail.
