Electric Motor/Generator Mechanics and Winders (NOC 72422)

Renown Electric Motors & Repair Inc. is actively looking to hire two (2) - Electric Motor/Generator Mechanics and Winders for a permanent, full-time position to work in our Concord, Ontario location.

Renown Electric Motors & Repair Inc. are looking for experienced Electric Motor/Generator Mechanics and Winders who are looking to excel.

Our Winding department handles rewinds of DC and AC Motors and Generators up to 13.8KV.
Our Mechanical department handles rebuilds and rewinds of DC and AC Motors and Generators up to 13.8KV.

Location: Shops located in Concord, Ontario with in-field services available throughout Canada.

Company description: Repair, Service and Sales of electric motors and generators up to 13,800VAC and 750 VDC. In-shop and on-site servicing, rewinding and remanufacture of large rotating machines. In-house coil manufacturing, machine shop services, testing, and balancing. Commissioning and preventive and predictive servicing of all sizes of motors and generators.

Job Duties: The Electric Motor/Generator Mechanics and Winders shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following job tasks:

• Test, insulate and install AC/DC motor and generator windings of various types.
• Installation of AC low voltage mush windings
• Experience with medium voltage motor winding
• Experience with high voltage motor winding
• Experience with DC motor armature, field and interpole winding
• Experience with manufacturing random and formed coils
• Refurbish, test, and reinstall AC/DC motors and generators
• Provide field installation of AC low voltage motors
• Test and observe electrical and mechanical conditions of equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair electric motors, transformers, switchgear, generators, and other electro-mechanical equipment
• Use machining tools to fabricate or recondition parts
• Replace or perform some machining to recondition or modify shafts, commutators, or other components
• Weld or braze components
• Instruct apprentices
• Wind, assemble and install various types of coils
• Perform static or dynamic balancing of armatures or rotors
• Read and interpret blueprints
• Perform on-site servicing and repair
• Test and repair or replace faulty wiring or components in electrical switchgear
• Test repaired motors, transformers, switchgear, or other electrical apparatus to ensure proper performance
• Must be willing to work flexible hours as required, including working on site

Skills, Experience and Education Required:

• 2-5 years small AC/DC motors
• 2-5 years medium/high voltage motors
• Strong safety record
• Experience with field installation of AC low voltage motors
• Experience with medium voltage motor removal, installation, and repair
• Experience with high voltage motor removal, installation, and commissioning
• Experience with DC motor turning and undercutting
• Experience with rigging, alignment, and analysis of large rotating equipment.
• Experience with manufacturing random and formed coils

Work conditions, Work Site Environment and Physical Capabilities:
• Air-Conditioned Shop. Large workspaces with moving benches and work platforms. Cranes throughout the facilities. Physically demanding. Handling heavy loads. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Ability to distinguish between colours. Manual dexterity

Wage & Hours: $36.00 - $37.00 per hour (To be negotiated based on experience), 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime pay after 44 hours per week in shop.
