Job Description:
• Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (“OSHA”) regulations and company Environmental Health and Safety (“EHS”) policies across all manufacturing operations;
• Conduct regular safety inspections, job safety analyses, and risk assessments for production lines, welding, press, assembly, and material handling areas;
• Identify unsafe conditions and unsafe behaviors and implement corrective and preventive actions;
• Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, and near misses, perform root cause analyses, and develop action plans to prevent recurrence;
• Develop, implement, and maintain safety programs, including Lockout and Tagout (“LOTO”), machine guarding, personal protective equipment, confined space, hot work, and ergonomics;
• Support new equipment installation and process changes by conducting EHS risk assessments prior to start-up;
• Manage chemical safety programs, including Safety Data Sheet (“SDS”) management, chemical labeling, storage, and spill prevention and response;
• Ensure environmental compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”) requirements, hazardous waste management, and non-hazardous waste management;
• Coordinate waste handling, recycling programs, and waste disposal vendors, and maintain manifests and environmental records;
• Deliver EHS training programs for new hires and current employees, including safety orientation, forklift safety, chemical handling, fire safety, and emergency response;
• Lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site-wide safety campaigns to promote employee engagement and awareness;
• Maintain OSHA recordkeeping, regulatory documentation, and compliance reports;
• Prepare for and support regulatory inspections and audits conducted by the OSHA, EPA, fire marshal, and customers;
• Maintain EHS policies, procedures, work instructions, and related documentation;
• Track and report key EHS performance indicators, including Total Recordable Incident Rate (“TRIR”), incident rates, near misses, and corrective actions;
• Prepare periodic EHS reports for plant leadership and corporate management;
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to workplace safety, ergonomics, and environmental performance; and
• Work closely with production, maintenance, engineering, and human resources to support safe operations and regulatory compliance.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a closely related field of study;
• Practical experience in the automotive parts manufacturing industry or a closely related manufacturing environment;
• Experience in handling workplace safety and environmental compliance programs;
• Skills in safety inspections, risk assessments, incident investigations, and corrective action planning; and
• Skills in compliance documentation, performance analysis, and regulatory reporting.
