Specific Skills:

• Review manuscripts, articles, news copy, and wire service dispatches to assess their suitability for publication, broadcast, or electronic media. Recommend or implement changes in content, style, and organization as needed.
• Read and edit copy to be published or broadcast, checking for errors in spelling, grammar, and syntax. Adjust the length of copy as necessary to fit space or time constraints.
• Consult with authors, staff writers, reporters, and other team members to discuss revisions to copy and ensure alignment with editorial standards and objectives.
• Plan and implement the layout or format of copy based on space or time allocations and the significance of the content. Ensure that the presentation enhances readability and visual appeal.
• Coordinate the activities of editorial staff to ensure that production deadlines are met. Monitor progress and provide guidance to ensure timely completion of tasks.
• Plan coverage of upcoming events relevant to the entertainment industry and assign work to staff accordingly. Coordinate coverage to capture key moments and provide comprehensive reporting.
• Write or prepare introductions, marketing and promotional materials, bibliographic references, indexes, and other text as needed to support editorial projects and initiatives.
• Optionally, negotiate royalties with authors and arrange for payment of freelance staff, ensuring fair compensation for their contributions.
