Job Duties
1. Assess the children’s development in order to prepare a learning plan tailored to his needs.
2. Assist co-workers in housekeeping and cooking duties
3. Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
4. Maintain daycare equipment
5. Supervise staff, trainees or volunteers
6. Synthesize the overall situation of the children and communicate the information to the parents
7. Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs and taking children to local points of interest
8. Engage children in activities by telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts
9. Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits
10. Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods
11. Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor
12. Discuss progress and problems of children at staff meetings
13. Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
14. Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and well-being of children
Qualification/Requirement:
Child development worker (ECE level 2)
First Aid Certificate
Education:
College/CEGEP
Security and safety:
Criminal record check
