Job Title: Early Childhood Educator
Term: Permanent, Full Time
Work hours: 30 - 40 hours/week
Salary: $36.60 per hour
Benefit: extended medical after 6 months & 4% vacation pay
Work location: 1187 Eagleridge Dr., Coquitlam, BC V3E 1J8 Canada
B&D Montessori Learning Academy Ltd. is a school dedicated to providing an inspiring learning environment based on Montessori principles. We offer Montessori Daycare, AM/PM Montessori Preschool Montessori, Full Day Kindergarten and Out of School Care.
Job Duties:
• Plan and lead the development of individualized and group lesson plans aligned with Montessori principles, ensuring they meet the learning needs and developmental goals of children aged 3 to 6.
• Design and implement structured early learning activities in areas such as literacy, numeracy, art, music, and science, while incorporating storytelling, role-play, and inquiry-based learning.
• Supervise and mentor junior educators and teaching assistants to ensure consistent educational delivery and classroom management.
• Monitor, assess, and document children's developmental progress using observation-based assessment tools; communicate findings with families and contribute to ongoing child development planning.
• Lead health and safety practices within the classroom to ensure physical and emotional wellbeing of all children, in accordance with licensing regulations and internal policy.
• Collaborate with the Centre Director to develop and evaluate curriculum plans, improvement strategies, and classroom organization methods.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with families by conducting regular parent-teacher conferences and providing progress updates.
• Maintain and oversee classroom materials, Montessori equipment, and learning resources to ensure cleanliness, safety, and usability.
• Attend team meetings, training sessions, and contribute to professional development initiatives.
Qualifications:
• Completion of a post-secondary degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
• Valid Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate issued by BC government is required
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience working in an early learning environment, including roles involving curriculum planning or team leadership
• Strong understanding of child development, age-appropriate programming, multicultural family dynamics, and inclusive practices
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement educational programs aligned with Montessori philosophy
• Experience mentoring junior educators or supervising staff in a child care or preschool setting is a strong asset
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and colleagues
