Job Summary
We are seeking a caring, patient, and enthusiastic Early Childhood Assistant to support the daily activities and developmental programs within a childcare or early learning environment. The ideal candidate will assist educators in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging atmosphere that promotes children’s emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development. This role requires strong communication skills, teamwork, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
Duties
• Assist early childhood educators in planning and implementing age-appropriate activities and learning programs.
• Support children in daily routines including meals, naps, dressing, toileting and playtime.
• Help maintain a safe, clean and organized classroom and play environment.
• Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities to ensure safety and well-being.
• Encourage positive behavior, social interaction, and emotional development.
• Observe children’s progress and communicate concerns or updates to educators and parents when required.
• Prepare learning materials, classroom supplies, and activity setups.
• Assist with maintaining attendance records and daily reports.
• Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
• Follow all childcare policies, health regulations, and safety procedures.
• Support inclusive practices and accommodate the individual needs of children.
Qualifications
• Completion of secondary school or post-secondary courses in early childhood education may be required.
• Early Childhood Assistant certification or related childcare training preferred.
• Previous experience working with children in a daycare, preschool, or educational setting is an asset.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Preferred Skills
• Experience assisting with educational and recreational activities.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to create a positive and supportive learning environment.
• Multilingual abilities are considered an asset.
