Early Childhood Assistant Job

*Support early childhood educators in carrying out programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children
*Assist early childhood educators in activities such as telling stories, teaching songs and preparing crafts, taking children to local points of interest and providing opportunities to express creativity through the media of art, dramatic play, music and physical activity
*Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children
*Assess the abilities, interests, and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members
*Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisor
*Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with parents, children, co-workers and community service providers working with children
*Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children
*Assist early childhood educators or supervisors in keeping records
*Maintain daycare equipment and assist in housekeeping and cooking duties
*Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest period
*Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits

*One year or more of experience in childcare
*Up-to-date Clear Criminal Records check and Vulnerable sector check
*Up-to-date Clear Child Abuse Registry Check
*Canadian high school or equivalency (a valid ECA is required)
*Comfortable with all age groups (Infant, Toddler, and Preschool)
*Ability to work in a team
*Ability to work in a busy and noisy environment
*An open-mind and positive attitude
