JOB TITLE: Drafting technologist

Job Post Summary
We need an experienced structural steel drafters in steel framing industry and have specialized knowledge on structural steel framing systems, foundations coordination, 3D modelling, and the production of accurate, construction-ready fabrication and erection drawings.
This person will be responsible to prepare engineering designs, drawings and related technical information, such as building information models (BIM), in multidisciplinary engineering teams or in support of engineers, architects or industrial designers

Summary of Qualifications required:
• Completion of a college program in Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field
• 2 years or more of experience in preparing CAD, Vertex BD and Advance Steel drawings
• Ability to create BIM models and update Vertex BD and Advance Steel components
• Experience with AutoCAD, Vertex BD, Advance Steel, and digital drafting standards
• Knowledge of Excel to support drafting tasks
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
• Organized and comfortable working with modular or prefabricated drawing systems

Responsibilities
- Prepare engineering designs and drawings
- Read blueprints to determine work requirements
- Supervise and train other technologists, technicians and drafters.
- Develop and prepare design sketches
- Prepare construction specifications, costs and material estimates
- Prepare contracts and tenders
- Write technical reports and specifications
- Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets
- Examine drawings for conformity and errors
- Consult with client, engineers or production specialists to establish product requirements
-Operate computer-assisted design (CAD) and drafting computer software systems
-Create building information models (BIM), using computer software including Vertex BD and Advance Steel in buildings and other engineering projects
