Job duties
- Supervise, coordinate, and assign daily tasks to dispatchers and clerical staff involved in freight shipping, receiving, route planning, crew scheduling, and inventory control.
- Plan and oversee the distribution and movement of goods, ensuring timely and efficient dispatch of transportation crews and freight loads.
- Monitor compliance with company policies, transportation regulations, safety and security standards, and recommend or implement procedural improvements.
- Resolve operational issues, customer complaints, or delivery delays; apply corrective measures and optimize dispatch processes for better performance.
- Train dispatch and logistics personnel on job duties, systems, and company protocols to ensure high levels of accuracy and service.
- Maintain adequate levels of required materials, forms, and supplies by initiating requisitions and coordinating with procurement.
- Ensure the smooth operation of dispatch systems, communication equipment, and related software; coordinate maintenance or repairs when necessary.
- Conduct performance evaluations of dispatchers and support staff, providing constructive feedback and support for professional growth.
- Step in to perform dispatching or clerical duties during peak periods or staff shortages to maintain service continuity.
Supervision: 5-10 people
