Director , Operations Compliance Job
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership, development and succession planning for regional and operating unit Compliance team members through teaching and coaching.
- Support the strategic development of Compliance goals, objectives, and targets at the regional and unit levels.
- Liaise with support functions such as HR, Legal, Procurement, Commercial, etc. to evaluate and reduce potential risks.
- Provide operating unit technical support in the areas of quality, food safety, occupational safety and health, sustainability, waste management, wastewater and storm water pollution prevention, air quality and environmental compliance and reporting.
- Prepare proposals and reports for senior leadership.
- Ensure adherence to departmental budgets.
- Liaise with customers, trade unions, business, regulatory and industry groups to identify emerging trends and issues.
- Champion quality improvement and problem-solving efforts across the region.
- Drive long-term defect prevention vs. short-term corrective actions
- In conjunction with internal and external stakeholders, identify, develop, and implement Company and legal Environmental, Social Governance (ESG) and sustainability requirements to continuously improve regional ESG performance.
- Drive sustainability, waste reduction and recycling processes through the identification of opportunities and targets. Support operating unit program implementation and oversee the tracking of sustainability results for regional and global reporting.
- Assess and ensure Compliance with local, state, and federal food safety, environmental, health and safety regulations.
- Work with units to maintain Compliance with governmental and Company standards.
- Work with regulatory agencies and consulting firms to achieve operational goals and develop corrective and preventive action plans to address areas of non-compliance.
- Support operating units in determination of quality defects, accident and injury root causes, corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor, measure and communicate compliance trends, targets, and impacts through Compliance scorecards.
- Evaluate and continuously improve Company risk prevention process effectiveness.
- Work with operational leadership to optimize deployment of Compliance processes.
- Ensure regulatory reporting responsibilities of business units are met
- Administer corporate Compliance policies and procedures and make improvement recommendations.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental, health, safety, quality, business management or related field of study. Master's degree or continuing education/certification in ISO, Just Culture, IATA, Sustainability, OSHA, etc. preferred.
Work Experience:
- 15+ years of increasing safety, occupational health, food safety, quality, environmental protection, and sustainability leadership responsibility.
- Airline industry, large scale catering or food manufacturing experience preferred.
- A proven record of achieving results through stakeholder partnerships and relationship building.
- Proven experience developing and implementing safety, health, quality, food safety environmental, and/or sustainability processes
- Proven teamwork and cross-functional abilities influencing leaders in a fast-paced environment
Technical Skills: (Certification, Licenses and Registration)
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Office applications
- Strong knowledge of compliance management systems (EX: ISO 9001, 14001, 22001, 45001)
- Knowledge of Hazard Analysis and Risk-Based Preventative Controls (HARPC) for Human Food
Language / Communication Skills:
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
