The Director of Operational Excellence leads performance improvement initiatives across Thompson Pipe Group’s manufacturing and construction operations. This role focuses on optimizing production efficiency, process consistency, safety, and product quality throughout all facilities involved in the design, fabrication, and installation of reinforced concrete and steel pressure pipe systems. The position drives Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives to improve throughput, reduce cost, enhance delivery performance, and strengthen cross-functional collaboration. Key Duties and Responsibilities • Assist in developing process improvement plans for production and administrative workflows. • Support standardization of routine processes across production areas such as coating, lining, welding, hydro-testing, and finishing. • Conduct basic Lean and continuous improvement activities to help reduce waste and improve daily performance. • Gather and analyze production and quality data to support plant managers and department leaders. • Assist in process mapping, documenting work instructions, and updating standard operating procedures. • Help coordinate small improvement events and provide on-the-floor training on simple problem-solving tools. • Support Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams with routine efficiency, throughput, and safety improvement activities. • Update and maintain visual management boards, KPI dashboards, and related reporting tools. • Assist with facility layout reviews and capital project planning by providing data and documentation support. • Prepare summary reports for leadership based on collected data and project progress. • Promote a culture of communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement at the plant level.
