Director of Engineering Job

Oakes Power Services Ltd. is a UK-based electrical contracting and power services company specializing in the installation, maintenance, and testing of high-voltage and low-voltage systems. Headquartered in Worcestershire, we provide comprehensive power engineering solutions to a range of clients, including utility companies, private developers, and the industrial and commercial sectors.

We offer services such as HV and LV cable installation, substation builds, switchgear commissioning, transformer installation, and fault response. Our team of trained engineers and technicians is qualified to work under live network conditions and adheres to strict industry standards. We maintain a customer-focused approach, emphasizing reliability, timely delivery, and cost-effective solutions.

We have built a strong reputation in the UK’s power infrastructure sector and are now exploring opportunities to expand our presence internationally, including in the Canadian market. We are currently looking for a Director of Engineering who will assume full operational management of our Canadian office and perform the following duties:

• Oversee, control and coordinate all engineering activities and technical operations related to power infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and Canadian regulatory standards.
• Establish and enforce operational policies, quality benchmarks, and engineering procedures specific to high-voltage and low-voltage electrical services delivered by the Canadian branch.
• Consult and negotiate with clients, utility partners, and local authorities to define project specifications, explain technical proposals, and present engineering reports and feasibility findings.
• Assign tasks and supervise engineering teams to ensure timely delivery of projects while maintaining compliance with safety and performance standards.
• Lead recruitment efforts and support the professional development of engineering personnel to ensure competence in all areas of power system design, installation, and commissioning.
• Monitor project timelines, costs, and performance metrics to ensure reliable, timely, and cost-effective service delivery aligned with Oakes Power’s commitment to excellence.

Requirements:

• A bachelor's degree in engineering is an asset
• A Certificate in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years of relevant supervisory engineering experience
• Strong leadership and project management skills
• High proficiency in English
• High level of integrity and work ethic
Conditions of employment:

• Work location: 1110 Finch Avenue West, Unit 1293, North York, ON M3J 2T2
• Full-time, permanent position consisting of 30 weekly work hours
• The remuneration will be set at $65.38 per hour (equivalent to $102,000 per year)
