Job Description:
Digital Cartographic-GIS Technician
Create, manage and analyze spatial datasets and create engineering drawings including site plans; Analyze data and create cartographic products to convey projects information to special audiences including regulatory agencies and the general public; Verify integrity and accuracy of data contained in remote sensing image analysis systems; Convert CAD data to GIS data and vice-versa; Receive data from various field collector equipment and analyze to produce quality datasets for use in multiple engineering software programs; Create high-quality maps using map creation software (Applied Imagery Quick Terrain Modeler, BAE Systems SOCET SET, ESRI ArcGIS Software); Perform high-level manual and visual review of preliminary data and final products to ensure usability and accuracy of all data entering the system; Prepare complex GIS mapping products including hardcopy maps, online maps, GIS data files, graphics, tables, and reports to meet departmental needs; Research source documents such as as-built drawings, field notes, and other records to verify accuracy and completeness of data; Collect geospatial data, using technologies such as aerial photography, light and radio wave detection systems, digital satellites, or thermal energy systems; Integrate remotely sensed data with other geospatial data; Consult with remote sensing scientists, surveyors, cartographers, or engineers to determine project needs; Manipulate raw data to enhance interpretation, either on the ground or during remote sensing flights. Offered Wage: $68,806/yr.

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
