THE POSITION

You will lead Lumivera's design and engineering department and run its production line. You will produce the mechanical, optical and enclosure design for both of Lumivera's launch fixture platforms and deliver it as a drawing and specification package a manufacturing partner can build to without interpretation, and you will supervise the production team that assembles, tests and commissions every unit.

DUTIES

Design and engineering
- Design the fixture housing, forged core geometry, radial heat pipe channels and fin arrangement.
- Carry out the optical design, select the lens or reflector, and manage the photometric file set.
- Design the driver pod, thermal break and stem assembly, and the ingress-rated enclosure sealing arrangement.
- Design the cold-service variant differences: the gasket set, breather vent, thermally bridging lens frame and reduced-height fin insert.
- Produce and control the manufacturing drawing package, including tolerances, surface finish callouts and fastening specification.
- Iterate the design against validation test results, with revision control tying each prototype build to a drawing revision.
- Prepare the drawing and specification material for the safety and performance certification submissions.
- Record the design method as written procedure, so the capability belongs to the company.

Management and production
- Lead the design and engineering department and run the company's production line day to day.
- Plan and schedule assembly and test work against order intake and component lead times, and assign tasks to the production team.
- Supervise the prototyping and test technician and, from the second year, the assembly and quality control technician.
- Set, issue and maintain the assembly work instructions, torque and thermal-interface standards, and the per-unit commissioning and quality records.
- Train new production staff on the company's documented methods and bring them up to standard.
- Oversee incoming component inspection and end-of-line testing so that every unit meets its thermal and ingress performance.
- Hold the day-to-day technical relationship with manufacturing partners and suppliers under the Chief Executive Officer's direction.
- Report production output, quality and schedule to the Chief Executive Officer.

REQUIREMENTS

- Mechanical and optical design of lighting fixtures against a defined thermal path
- Photometric file management
- Ingress-rated enclosure design
- Drawing production to tolerance and surface finish
- Design revision control
- Experience leading or supervising a small design or production team
- Planning and scheduling production work and assigning tasks
