Job Description
Nanaimo Denture Clinic Inc. is looking for a skilled, reliable, and detail-oriented Dental Laboratory Technician Assistant to join our team in Nanaimo, BC.
The successful candidate will assist with the preparation, fabrication, finishing, and polishing of full and partial dentures. This position requires technical knowledge, excellent manual dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain high-quality standards in a professional denturist practice.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain, monitor, and order dental laboratory supplies and materials.
- Mould wax over denture setups according to laboratory procedures.
- Finish metal frameworks used in denture fabrication.
- Pack plastic materials into moulds to produce full or partial dentures.
- Make orthodontic bands using metals and alloys.
- Polish, buff, and finish dentures to ensure smooth, high-quality results.
- Perform dental laboratory packing and polishing procedures accurately.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently while meeting deadlines and quality standards.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
- 2 years to less than 3 years of relevant work experience is required.
- Practical knowledge of dental laboratory packing and polishing techniques is required.
- Familiarity with dental laboratory materials, tools, and equipment is an asset.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to distinguish colours.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
- Good organizational skills and ability to follow technical instructions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions
This is a permanent, full-time position requiring 40 hours of work per week at our Nanaimo location. Work must be performed on-site, and schedules may include early morning, morning, daytime, and evening shifts.
