Position: Dental Laboratory Assistant
Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Dental Laboratory Assistant to provide dedicated support to the Dental Ceramist in our Ceramics Department. The successful candidate will assist with dental case preparation, model and material preparation, laboratory organization, equipment operation and routine care, preliminary trimming and polishing, case documentation, and inventory control.
The Dental Laboratory Assistant will work under the direction of the Dental Ceramist and will support the efficient and timely processing of ceramic dental restoration cases by preparing required materials, organizing case components, maintaining laboratory equipment and work areas, and assisting with preliminary finishing and other laboratory support activities. This position requires accuracy, attention to detail, teamwork, good manual dexterity, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced dental laboratory environment.
Work Assignment: Dedicated assistant in the Ceramics Department
Supervisor: Dental Ceramist
Wage: $35.00 to $42.00 hourly (To be negotiated) / 30 to 40 hours per Week
Benefit : Extended Medical Plan
Job duties:
1. Prepares plaster models, moulds, and dies from dental impressions, and trims, cleans, and labels case components for ceramic restoration work.
2. Organizes and tracks incoming case files, work orders, prescriptions, and related materials to keep the Ceramist’s caseload moving through each production stage.
3. Measures, mixes, and handles porcelain, ceramic powders, stains, and glazes to the Ceramist’s specifications, following established lab protocols.
4. Prepares dental stone, plaster, and investment materials used in model and cast fabrication.
5. Casts gold and metal alloys for bridge and denture-base substructures according to lab procedure.
6. Performs preliminary trimming and polishing on restorations to prepare them for final technical verification, finishing and approval by the Dental Ceramist or Technician.
7. Maintains laboratory tools and equipment, tracks material inventory, and places supply orders for the department.

Requirements
• Secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
• 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in a dental laboratory environment, preferably with hands on experience supporting ceramic restoration production.
