Dental Hygienist Job

Complete patient screening procedures, including assessing oral health conditions, reviewing health history, screening for oral cancer, and taking blood pressure. Take and develop dental radiographs (x-rays) and remove plaque from all surfaces of the teeth. Apply preventive materials to the teeth. Teach patients appropriate oral hygiene. Make impressions of patients' teeth for study casts. Clean, sterilize, and prepare the equipment. Present pre-diagnosis to the doctor(s) and partner. Maintain dental hygiene instrumentation. Select materials and equipment for dental hygiene visit by evaluating patient's oral health. Complete dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth. Detect disease by completing oral cancer screening, feeling and visually examining gums, using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession. Arrest dental decay by applying fluorides and other cavity-preventing agents.

Bachelor's Degree in Dental Hygiene and RDH License
