Locally Compact, Inc. has the following position available in New York, NY:

Data Scientist I (VOL-MG): Responsible for harvesting insights from a complex array of data. Involves data curation, analysis, interpretation, visualization, and communication of findings to members of the research staff and executive leadership. Specific duties of the Data Scientist 1 include: design and implement systems to ensure data correctness and monitor data health in data stores and live feeds; proactively identify abnormal production behavior and communicate them clearly to relevant stakeholders; harness financial expertise and statistical analysis to gain actionable insights into our production trading and research systems; design and implement pipelines that automate those analyses found to be valuable for ongoing monitoring; work with complex datasets, including curation, querying, aggregation, exploratory data analysis, and visualization. Responsible for independently scoping ambiguous analytical problems, defining quantitative metrics, executing end-to-end research analyses, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate technical findings into clear, actionable insights.

Minimum Requirements: This position requires both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree or equivalent in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Business Analytics, Mathematics, or Computer Science and 10 months of related data science/analyst experience. Will accept experience gained before, during, or after Master’s program. Employer will accept experience gained concurrently.

Special Requirements: Must also have demonstrated experience with each of the following:

1. Scoping ambiguous objectives into quantitative metrics and delivering scalable, automated analytical products using robust code in R, Python, and SQL.
2. Deriving forward-looking directions from retrospective data analysis.
3. Statistical and mathematical modeling, including model development, hypothesis testing, and validation techniques.
4. Creating data visualizations, generating summary statistics, and interpreting analytical results for stakeholders.
5. Communicating effectively with diverse technical backgrounds, reconciling and translating requests into clear analytical insights.
