Cybersecurity Officer (Information Security Officer)
Location: Third Judicial Circuit, Florida State Courts System

This is a County funded position
Reports to: Senior IT Management / Court Administration
Job Summary
The Cybersecurity Officer is responsible for establishing, managing, and enhancing the enterprise information security program for the Third Judicial Circuit of Florida. This position ensures that the court’s digital assets, including information systems, infrastructure, and technology are protected from internal and external cybersecurity threats. The Officer independently monitors legal, technological, and organizational risks and implements appropriate security strategies to uphold confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Provides technical support and analysis related to cyber security across the State Court System.
• Ensure secure deployment and maintenance of systems, including virus detection, filtering systems, agents, and firewall/content control.
• Apply consistent policies and standards to privacy, risk management, compliance, and continuity management.
• Develop and implement clear, risk-mitigating directives for I.T.
• Create and manage a comprehensive information security awareness program for Judges, Judicial Assistants, staff, contractors, and approved users.
• Develop and enhance IT governance and management frameworks aligned with established Cybersecurity Framework.
• Establish IT security policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure compliance from Judges, Judicial Assistants, staff and anyone else with approved network access.
• Provide staff support and consultation to approved partners for risk remediation.
• Conduct regular updates of system patches and logs for security threats or anomalies.
• Evaluate vendor-issued security alerts.
• Evaluate new and emerging cybersecurity technologies for possible implementation.
• Participate in staff training, professional workshops, and technical seminars to maintain current cybersecurity skills and obtain relevant certification as available or needed.
Qualifications
Education & Experience (one of the following):
- Master’s degree in IT or related field plus 1 year of relevant experience in network systems design/development; or
- Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field plus 2 years of experience (1 year in network systems design/development); or

- High school diploma plus 5 years of experience in IT, 3 of which must be in network systems design/development (excluding data entry); or

Certifications (preferred):
- Industry-recognized security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Self-starter capable of working independently under limited supervision.
• Proficiency with enterprise-level cybersecurity practices and governance.
• Deep understanding of risk assessment, compliance auditing, and IT systems architecture.
• Familiarity with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework and other industry best practices.
• Ability to analyze and interpret system logs, perform security diagnostics, and develop actionable plans.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for training and cross-functional collaboration.
Working Conditions
Full-time position with occasional after-hours or on-call duties in response to security incidents or other technology-related problems requiring immediate remediation.
Professional Office-based with periodic travel for training or collaboration across court circuits.
