Position Summary:

The Cost Control Coordinator is responsible for supporting cost management, estimation, and reporting activities across infrastructure projects. Combining technical expertise in cost control with responsibilities typically associated with quantity surveying, the role ensures accurate tracking, reporting, and forecasting of project costs, while also contributing to quantity takeoffs, budget preparation, and analysis of vendor data. The position requires frequent interaction with Planning, Risk Management, Estimating BIM, and Procurement departments.

Duties:
• Preparing and updating detailed cost reports of materials, labour and equipment for construction projects, forecasts, and dashboards to support decision-making
• Conducting quantity takeoffs and assisting the preparation of estimates using 2D and 3D models and project documentation
• Collaborating in the development of resource-loaded estimates and budgets, ensuring consistency with project baselines
• Advising on tendering procedures, examining and analyzing tenders, recommending tender awards and conducting negotiations
• Reviewing and organizing vendor and subcontractor proposals, pricing data, and quotations
• Allocating costs to the correct cost codes for accurate job cost tracking
• Supporting in the implementation of change management procedures, including assessment of cost impacts and preparing cost and expenditure statements/forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a project
• Validating quantities and generating reports for progress measurement and interim payments
• Reviewing and validating construction drawings, models, and geospatial data for accuracy in quantity assessments
• Assisting in preparing flowcharts and organizational charts using linked datasets
• Interfacing with BIM models and GIS databases to extract relevant project metrics and support quantity takeoffs
Job Requirements:
Requirements:
• Three Year College Program or Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is required;
• 2+ years of experience in cost control, estimation, or quantity surveying within infrastructure or construction projects
• Strong knowledge of cost control systems, estimation processes, and project budgeting
• Proficient in interpreting both 2D plans and 3D models
• Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and communication across departments
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• AutoCAD: Reading and interpreting technical drawings; extracting measurements; preparing RFIs
• Revit & Revizto: 3D model interpretation and quantity takeoffs
• ArcGIS: Analysis and interpretation of geospatial data and GIS databases
• B2W Estimate: Budget preparation, item creation, resource allocation, and vendor data management
• Bluebeam: Ability to review quantity measurements, and export measurement data to Excel
• Microsoft Excel: Budgeting, cost comparison tables, and data analysis
• Microsoft Visio: Creation of flowcharts and organizational diagrams linked to Excel databases
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint): Reporting and presentations
