Job Description:

Holman is seeking a Corporate Accounting Manager to join our Retail Corporate Accounting team! This position will report directly to the Director of Accounting and is a hybrid role based in Vancouver, WA.

About Holman

Since 1924, Holman has evolved into one of the largest integrated automotive service companies in North America. With a unique set of complementary services in fleet management, upfitting and equipment, and commercial and retail vehicle sales, we’re always Driving What’s Right.

Holman's retail division, where our story began, is one of the largest privately held dealership groups in the United States, operating 74 new vehicle franchises representing 34 brands, including BMW, Lexus, Porsche, and Land Rover, from the Pacific Northwest to the East Coast.

The Opportunity

We're seeking a Corporate Accounting Manager to join our Retail Corporate Accounting team, reporting directly to the Director of Accounting.

You'll own the full cycle accounting for 3 of our 5 holding companies (those with the most complex corporate department structures) and lead the preparation of quarterly standalone GAAP financial statements for our Retail division, audited annually by KPMG. Strong performers in this role are positioned for expanded responsibilities and advancement within the finance organization.

What makes this role unique: Holman has invested in systems and centralized operations that handle transactional accounting (AP, AR, cash), allowing you to focus on work that requires judgment: month-end close, financial reporting, variance analysis, and team leadership. OneStream automates our consolidation and budgeting processes across 110+ entities, allowing you to focus on the bigger picture.

This role combines solid accounting work with leadership responsibility, requiring someone who can manage volume and scale while developing talent and driving continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

Financial Accounting & Reporting (60%)

  • Manage full-cycle accounting for 3 assigned holding companies, including month-end close processes in OneStream across 110+ consolidated entities

  • Prepare quarterly standalone consolidated financial statements for the Retail division with footnote disclosures in full compliance with US GAAP (private company - no SEC reporting)

  • Oversee Retail Central Services accounting for 10+ departments, partnering with department leaders on planning and budgeting (leveraging OneStream), and delivering actionable variance analysis that identifies cost optimization opportunities and risks

  • Manage shared accounting processes including intercompany transactions and intangibles

  • Oversee long-term debt accounting in collaboration with the Treasury team to ensure accurate financial statement presentation

  • Deliver monthly parent company reporting packages with accuracy and timeliness

  • Partner cross-functionally with Dealership Accounting, Centralized Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Legal, FP&A, and parent Corporate Accounting teams

Leadership & Team Development (20%)

  • Lead and develop one direct report (Accounting Supervisor) who manages a team of staff and senior accountants

  • Serve as a resource and mentor to other managers on the Retail Corporate Accounting team (dotted-line responsibility)

  • Build team capabilities through coaching, performance feedback, and professional development

  • Participate in leadership development programs including Holman Connect (our annual manager retreat)

  • Foster a culture of accountability, technical excellence, and continuous improvement

Process Improvement & Strategic Projects (15%)

  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, strengthen internal controls, and improve reporting accuracy across a multi-entity consolidation environment

  • Drive special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by the Director of Accounting

External Audit (5%)

  • Serve as primary Corporate Accounting contact for the annual standalone audit with KPMG

  • Manage preparation and delivery of all corporate-driven PBC (Prepared by Client) schedules and support requests

What You Bring

Required Qualifications:

  • CPA certification

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting background

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting

  • Advanced Excel proficiency with strong financial modeling and analysis capabilities

  • Proven people leadership experience with ability to develop and mentor accounting professionals

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge including US GAAP, consolidations, and financial reporting

  • Exceptional attention to detail with ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communication skills - able to translate complex accounting concepts for non-finance stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with OneStream (or similar consolidation/EPM platforms)

  • Experience with CDK or other automotive dealership management systems

  • Automotive or retail industry experience

  • Big 4 public accounting background

  • Experience supporting external audits as client-side lead

Success Profile

You'll thrive in this role if you:

  • Drive process improvement – You naturally identify inefficiencies and develop better methods, tools, and workflows to increase accuracy and efficiency

  • Excel at managing people and projects – You can simultaneously coach your team on day-to-day work while managing project timelines and ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and deadlines

  • Work independently and collaboratively – You take ownership of your portfolio but know when to leverage cross-functional partners and seek guidance

  • Adapt quickly to change – You adjust priorities and approach when the business environment shifts, staying focused on what matters most

  • Solve problems proactively – You identify technical, operational, and organizational issues before they escalate and resolve them effectively

  • Influence through expertise – You use your technical knowledge and rational arguments to guide stakeholders toward the right solutions, even when you don't have direct authority

  • Balance strategic thinking with execution – You contribute to departmental vision and strategy while ensuring month-end closes on time with accuracy

  • Communicate with impact – You present financial results clearly, coach team members effectively, and translate complex accounting for business partners

  • Anticipate needs – You understand what your Director, business partners, and auditors need before they ask and proactively deliver solutions

  • Want work-life balance – You're looking for a stable role with reasonable hours and predictable busy periods

Compensation & Benefits

  • Total compensation: Starting at $150,000 (negotiable based on experience and qualifications)

  • Private office with standing desk in our beautiful new East Vancouver location (conveniently located off Mill Plain Blvd)

  • Hybrid work arrangement: Tuesday–Thursday in office; Monday & Friday flexible remote work (increased on-site presence during onboarding and month-end close periods)

  • Work-life balance: Reasonable hours with predictable busy periods

  • Leadership development: Holman Connect annual manager retreat and ongoing development programs

  • Professional development: CPA continuing education fully supported

  • Comprehensive benefits package
