A.Bento offers a modern twist on traditional Taiwanese cuisine, drawing inspiration from every corner of Taiwan. About the Role
We're looking for a skilled and passionate Cook to join our kitchen team. You'll help prepare and execute our menu — from house-made items like sausage and sauces to night-market-inspired dishes — while maintaining the quality and consistency our guests expect. You'll also have the opportunity to create innovative new dishes rooted in Taiwanese heritage, incorporating locally sourced Vancouver ingredients and tailoring flavors to our clients' tastes.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and cook menu items according to A.Bento's recipes and standards
Assist with house-made components (sausage, sauces, marinades, etc.)
Create new dishes rooted in Taiwanese heritage and help in making seasonal special menus
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen station
Manage prep lists and inventory for your station
Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines (FOODSAFE certification an asset)
Work efficiently during lunch (11:30 AM–3:00 PM) and dinner (5:00 PM–9:00 PM) service
Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service
Uphold consistency and quality across all dishes
Train junior staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
Supervise kitchen staff and helpers
Maintain inventory and records of food, supplies and equipment

Qualifications:
Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate

Language: English

Experience:
5 years or more working as a cook, ideally in an Asian or Taiwanese kitchen
Familiar with Taiwanese and broader Asian cuisine and techniques is a strong asset
Ability to work efficiently and as a team player in a fast-paced kitchen environment
Strong attention to detail and consistency

Certification:
Food Safety Certificate
Cook Certificate an asset

What We Offer:
Competitive wage: $38.50/hour
Full time workload: minimum of 35 hours/week. Typically 35-40 hours/week based on schedule
