Duties
• Prepare and cook meals in accordance with dietary guidelines, ensuring nutritional value and presentation are maintained at all times
• Ensure food safety by following sanitizing procedures, proper food handling practices, and maintaining a clean kitchen environment
• Assist with food service operations, including plating and serving meals to residents with care and professionalism
• Manage high-volume food production efficiently while maintaining quality standards for large-scale meal preparation
• Collaborate with dietary aides and staff to coordinate meal times and special event catering as needed
• Maintain accurate records of food inventory, safety checks, and sanitation procedures to ensure compliance with health regulations
Skills
• Extensive dietary department experience combined with culinary expertise in a fast-paced kitchen environment
• Strong knowledge of food safety management, sanitizing procedures, and proper food handling techniques
• Skilled in food preparation techniques such as braising, poaching, grilling, and other cooking methods suitable for large-scale production
• Excellent knife skills and proficiency in food industry standards for quality control and presentation
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team of dietary aides and kitchen staff while maintaining a positive attitude
