• Oversee daily kitchen operations and assist in maintaining efficient workflow.
• Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes according to established recipes and quality standards.
• Plan menus, estimate food requirements, and develop new recipes to enhance offerings.
• Determine appropriate food portion sizes and calculate food costs.
• Inspect kitchen and food service areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health regulations.
• Manage stock levels, maintain inventory records, and monitor food serving status; report to management for purchasing and supply planning.
• Train kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking techniques, and safe food handling practices.
• Supervise and support kitchen helpers, ensuring their work meets restaurant standards and operational requirements.

• Completion of secondary school is required.
• Formal training in cooking or 2 years of relevant work experience in Chinese cuisine restaurant, food court, hotel kitchen, or commercial kitchen specializing in Huaiyang-style cuisine is preferred.
• Certification in food safety is an asset.
• Proven experience with general kitchen techniques is required.
• Ability to develop or adapt recipes is required.
• Ability to stand, bend, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
