Job Description:
Title: Controls Technician
Location: Topeka, KS
Job Type: Full Time/Permanent
Shifts/Schedule: 2nd Shift, 8 hr. shift schedules

Overview:
The Controls Technician is responsible for on-shift support and maintenance of the electrical and control systems within the manufacturing facility.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), including Allen Bradley ControlLogix and GuardLogix, and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) such as Wonderware or Panelview.
Maintain and troubleshoot plant floor electrical, control, and pneumatic components, including vision systems, industrial and collaborative robots, valves, motors, loop controllers, solenoids, control system I/O (Flex IO and Point IO), measurement and instrumentation systems (flow meters, load cells, photo-electrics, level probes, metal detectors, container fill detectors, touch screen monitors, and container vacuum detection).
Function as a technical resource and shift troubleshooting support for operations, maintenance, and engineering (requires climbing, bending, and crawling).
Conduct training for controls and electrical systems for maintenance and operations personnel.
Provide extensive reporting and communication regarding problems and solutions.
Follow backup procedures for controllers, panels, and programmable switches.
Document changes made to software and hardware (electrical and process and instrumentation prints).
Ensure safety standards are met in accordance with company safety policies.

Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma.
5 years of plant technical experience OR 3 years of experience plus a 2-year technical degree.
Ability to troubleshoot and program PLCs and Safety PLCs using ladder logic programming. Familiarity with Sequencer programming and AOI blocks.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
Knowledge of NEC regulatory requirements.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits (3-phase 480 VAC, 120 VAC, 24VAC, and VDC control circuits).
Availability to work on different shifts and weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience troubleshooting Wonderware/AVEVA System Platform.
Experience working with Microsoft SQL databases.
Familiarity with Cisco architecture and infrastructure (Basic LAN concepts).
Ability to create or modify CAD drawings.
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate has high school diploma, experience in electrical maintenance and troubleshooting, with PLC experience.
