Job Title: Construction Trade Helper
Terms of Employment: 30-40 hours per week, Full-Time/Permanent
Start Date: As soon as possible
Wage: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour (Depending on Experience)
No of Positions: 8
Job Duties:
• Load and unload construction materials and tools; move to and from work areas.
• Assist tradespersons such as fencing/retaining wall installers, carpenters in exterior residential and commercial construction.
• Assist installers and carpenters with landscape construction projects that install and/or repair:
o Paver patios, walkways, retaining walls, etc
o Decks, fences, pergolas, other outdoor structures, etc
o Excavation, grading, and base preparation
• Assist in measuring, cutting, and shaping various materials
• Ensure job sites are kept clean by removing any rubble or garbage at construction sites using rakes, shovels, wheelbarrows, and other equipment; sorting materials and recyclables appropriately; ensuring work tools and equipment are stored away properly.
• Set up work areas for installers and carpenters in advance.
• Maintain tools and equipment and coordinate with supervisor if replacement or service required.
• Operate tools and equipment such as various shovels, chisels, trowels, hammers, digging bars, pry bars, screed rails/screed bars, power tools, drills, etc, as directed.
• Perform other duties assigned by foreman, project Managers, etc.
• Work closely with foreman and crew members to meet daily production goals.
• Report all injuries, incidents, unsafe working conditions or any other concerns to their direct supervisor or safety representative as soon as possible.
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
Education: No formal education is required
Experience: No Experience is required.
***Experience working on construction sites would be considered an asset.
Language: Basic English is required.

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive Tasks, physically demanding, requires bending, crouching, kneeling, Handling Heavy loads, requires lifting, pulling, and carrying of equipment and other objects, Standing for long period of time, Hand-eye co-ordination.
Personal Suitability:
• Ability to follow Safe Work Practices and Procedures.
• Ability to work safely in confined spaces, as well as high height levels and in noisy places
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to bend, crouch, stand and kneel for long extended periods.
• Physically fit and capable of lifting 50+ lbs.
• Ability to do physical work for long shifts.
• Ability to be mobile and willing to travel to various job sites.
• Ability to take direction and work as part of a team
• Punctual, reliable, and respectful on site
Assets (but not required):
1. Previous landscape construction or construction experience
2. Experience with pavers, walls, or carpentry
3. Valid Class 5 driver’s license
4. Skid steer or equipment experience
