Salary: $44.40 hourly/ 30 to 40 hours per week
Position: Fulltime/Permanent
Minimum Education: High School
Language: English
Work Location: Various locations in lower mainland British Columbia
Start Date: As soon as possible
Requirements: Completion of a three-year college program in civil or construction engineering technology or 2 to 3 years of experience as a qualified tradesperson in a construction trade such as plumbing, carpentry or electrical etc.
Job Duties:
• Review landscape designs, drawings, specifications and project requirements to determine the scope of work.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for residential and commercial landscaping and outdoor construction projects.
• Calculate quantities and costs of labour, materials, equipment and subcontracted services required for each project.
• Estimate costs for hardscaping, patios, walkways, retaining walls, drainage systems, irrigation systems, sod, planting and other landscape installations.
• Conduct site visits to evaluate property conditions, measurements, access requirements, grading, drainage and potential project challenges.
• Obtain and analyze quotations from suppliers, equipment providers and subcontractors.
• Prepare tender documents, project proposals, quotations, budgets and cost breakdowns for clients.
• Maintain updated records of material prices, labour rates, equipment costs, supplier quotations and previous project expenses.
• Recommend suitable materials, construction methods and cost-saving alternatives while maintaining project quality and client requirements.
• Work with clients, landscape designers, project managers, suppliers and field supervisors to clarify project specifications and estimate requirements.
• Review contract changes, additional work and project modifications and prepare revised estimates or change-order pricing.
• Compare estimated costs with actual project expenses and use the results to improve the accuracy of future estimates.
• Assist management in evaluating project profitability, scheduling requirements and resource needs before contracts are accepted.
• Maintain organized estimating files, drawings, proposals, supplier information and project documentation.
