Job details:
Position: Computer Network Technician
Type: Permanent, full-time (30 hours per week)
Hourly wage: $31.50
Benefits: Health care, dental plans, financial benefits, paid mileage

Job location: Vancouver office at 1980 Pandora St, Vancouver, BC V5L 0C7

Main duties:
• Maintain, troubleshoot and administer the use of LANs, WANs, mainframe networks, as well as computer workstations and peripheral equipment;
• Evaluate and install computer hardware, networking software and operating system software;
• Using master consoles monitor computer systems and network performance and co-ordinate access and use of computer networks;
• Provide troubleshooting support to network users;
• Implement data, software and hardware security protocols;
• Perform routine network start-up and shutdown procedures and maintain control records;
• Perform server and data backup and disaster recovery;
• Manage, troubleshoot and upgrade hardware and software for web servers;
• Set up local area networks and internet connections;
• Implement network traffic and security monitoring software to optimize server performance.

Employment requirements:
• 1-2 years of prior experience as a network technician.
• College degree in computer science or a related discipline.
• Proficient knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols, and network technologies.
• Strong communication skills (oral and written).
• Language of communication: English.
• Customer support aptitude.
